Thanks to streaming, it has become much easier to find and listen to new songs and musicians. There’s no telling whether the streaming giant will reimplement this sought-after feature, though it is clear that users would enjoy a more social music listening and discovery experience.We live in the digital age that has changed the usual order of things, including the way music is distributed and consumed. Shortly after this, there was a feature request submitted to the Spotify community that got a whole lot of attention - over 24,000 votes as of my writing this - but Spotify replied, “Not right now.” Spotify does still have a few rudimentary social features, such as the Friend Feed on the desktop app and the Community page on mobile, which is currently under development. However, in 2013 Spotify made some changes that did away with most of the social functionalities of the app, including the little-used messaging service, and of course the ability to see who followed your playlists.
Back then, you didn’t “like” a playlist, you followed it. In its early days, Spotify was more socially-oriented, and did allow users to see who liked their playlist. This is not recommended as there are many better ways that you could be spending your time, such as making more awesome playlists or messing with your Spotify stats.Īlso, there is a strong possibility that the person who liked your playlist doesn’t even follow you, but found your playlist in some random way, such as searching for a specific song and seeing it pop up on your playlist. Unfortunately, the only way to find out who liked your playlist on Spotify is if you see the playlist on their public profile.Īssuming that the person who liked your playlist is one of your followers, then you could go through your list of followers until you find the playlist on their profile. While the app does display the total number of likes on a playlist, it does not display the names or profiles of people who liked it. However, the data that Spotify allows users to see about their playlists is quite limited. To a music fan who considers themselves of finer tastes, that truly is the ultimate compliment. It’s understandable, when you put a lot of time and effort into making a Spotify playlist, it’s exciting to see that other people are enjoying your taste in music.
