My only concern is how restic stores snapshot information. Restic repo files to the Windows server first, and then I will be able to use restic to restore the actual files to the Linux server. I will have to use Backblaze to restore all of the I know i won’t be able to directly restore the data using restic. If the Windows server dies, I can use restic to redo the backup.īackblaze will only be used for disaster recovery in the case that both servers are lost at the same time. If my Linux server ever needs to be restored, then I can use restic to restore from the repository on the Windows server. From there the Backblaze client can backup all of the restic raw repo files (config/data/index/keys/snapshot folders). I am not looking for restic to push data directly to Backblaze backup service though. However B2 is cost prohibitive for the amount of data I am looking to store (~7TB+ without any versioning). Setup a schedule that works for you, the default on of once a day is pretty reasonable for most personal backups. It's also a good idea to test your connection before continuing. Pick B2 Cloud Storage, put in your Bucket Name, a folder path, your account ID and your application key (from the instructions on setting up Backblaze).
Give your backups a name, you don't need to use encryption but I'd highly recommend it, and I'd also recommend using their password generator and saving the password in a password manager. Once Duplicati is installed open your web browser and go to Click on Add Backup > Configure a new backup > Next I found I needed to wait about 45 seconds for the service to start accepting connections.
